Global Leadership/Health Club
Gillian Compo - Global Leadership Club Advisor
Students interested in Global Leadership and Health, including; health issues in developing countries such as Haiti, global maternal and child health, emerging infectious diseases, healthcare inequality, social justice and racial implications impacting health care and how it impacts population health in countries such as Haiti. In addition to gaining a wealth of leadership skills, global health, and social justice experience through working with each other and people in other cultures.
In partnering with local Haitian leaders, health care specialists, and farmers in addition to other places we can participate in virtual teaching opportunities in remote mountain villages of Haiti and in the heart of Port au Prince, the capital city. This is a new club, started in 2017 with the aim to travel to Haiti on global leadership/health initiative projects, and has since grown to realize the value of supporting and partnering with local farmers and Haitian health care providers already in Haiti. Participating in local fundraising and virtual connection opportunities, students will partner with MMU Global Health Initiative (GHI) student interns to help promote club/GHI goals.
If you have any questions please contact Madilyn Sandy, Rebecca Moriarty, or Erin Rusnock, MMU Global Health Initiative student interns/club representatives, or Mrs. Compo, the faculty liaison, in the Health Office.
