World-famous Italian tenor Tito Merelli arrives late for his starring debut in Otello at the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Through a set of bizarre circumstances, he passes out and is mistaken for dead by the opera house manager who decides to tap his hapless assistant, an aspiring singer named Max, to suit up as Otello in Tito’s place. But when the real Tito wakes up, and the two men are discovered in identical costumes, the hijinks lead to a series of mistaken identities, love triangles, frantic chases and a lot of door slamming in this hilarious farce by Ken Ludwig.
