Concert Choir (Choral Music Class) credit course
The focus of this course is vocal music skills, including sight-reading, music literacy, and vocal techniques, within a choral setting. This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level commensurate with previous experience. Students will develop musical literacy skills by using creative and critical analysis processes in performance and a range of reflective and analytical activities. Students will develop an understanding of the conventions and elements of music, and apply these elements in a range of activities, emphasizing performance.
The students in this course will perform as MMU’s Concert Choir. Public performance is a requirement of this course. Students perform four concerts a year.
Membership in these choirs is by audition and requires after-school commitment. Singers are expected to be taking, or have taken, other music courses wherein basic music skills are learned.
Auditioned, mixed- voice choir. Ability to read music is essential and a regular committment is required.
Rehearsals: Thursday 6-7:30pm
Women's Madrigal Singers
Auditioned SSA choir. Ability to follow music and commit to rehearsals is required.
Rehearsals: Wednesday 3:15-4:45pm
Auditioned TBB choir. Ability to follow music and commit to rehearsals is required.
Rehearsals: Friday 3:15-4:45pm
