Members of MMU’s Mock Trial team prepare for and compete in the Vermont High School Mock Trial State Competition. Team members take on the role of lawyers and witnesses and learn trial skills. Students work with lawyers from the Vermont legal community to polish their skills and tactics. Vermont State, Federal, and Supreme Court Judges as well as members of the Vermont Bar judge the competition.
MMU has competed in the Vermont State Competition for the past five years. In 2023, MMU sent 24 students to the Vermont State Competition at Vermont Law School on four trial teams and received the Best Overall Team Award. Jacob Leamon of MMU received the Best Defense Attorney Award and James Bellizia of MMU received the Best Defense Attorney Award.
