Native American Heritage Month

MMU Celebrates Native American Heritage Month
Land Acknowledgement Mural in the MMU Lobby

November is National Native American Heritage Month, and MMU students and staff are celebrating by:

• Listening to music by artists with indigenous heritage,
• Watching the film Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World, a documentary about Native Americans in popular music,
• Discussing Abenaki culture and history and participating in land acknowledgement activities during Advisory, and
• Optionally, reading The Round House by Louise Erdrich for a school-wide book discussion.

Recognition months give us the opportunity to celebrate different communities and learn about the ways we are all connected. What have you learned this month about indigenous peoples?
