School-wide Book Discussion for Black History Month

Black History Month School-wide book discussion February 21st and 22nd
The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride

February is Black History Month, and MMU is celebrating Black literature with a school-wide book discussion of James McBride's The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store.

This 2023 novel delves into the mystery of a skeleton found at the bottom of a well in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in 1972 and explores the history of the Chicken Hill neighborhood through the experiences of its diverse residents. McBride writes masterfully, with humor and hope, about the community and love that brings people together.

All students and staff are welcome to read and join the discussion on February 21st or 22nd after school in the Library. Print copies are available in the Library, or access an ebook or audiobook on Sora.
