This year’s Spring musical is a spectacular show with an unfortunate title. Urinetown is a smart, hilarious musical satire about greed, corruption, revolution... and musical theatre itself! Don’t let the title scare you away. This show is extremely topical today.
Urinetown is about a dystopian society facing the depletion of natural resources and political corruption under the influence of a wealthy business owner who unfairly fines taxes and tariffs for the most basic of human rights: to use the bathroom.
The play addresses the idea of living extravagantly without regard for how it affects our future. We just pile up the garbage and byproducts and use up our resources like there's no tomorrow.
The show will be performed Friday & Saturday, April 4th & 5th at 7:30 and Sunday, April 6th at 2:00. Tickets are $7 for students, children, faculty & staff and $10 for general admission. Tickets will go on sale at MMU during lunch periods on April 1st (no joke!) and will also be available at the door.
