Theatre Department

The MMU Theatre Department produces theatre throughout the entire school year.

In the fall we produce a Straight Play, in the winter we put on Student Directed Scenes and One-Acts.

We produce a spectacular musical in the spring, and we close the school year with the Senior Theatre Production (a show produced and performed by Seniors).

It's almost time for the
Spring Musical!

Sound on! (for the videos above and below)

This year’s Spring musical is a spectacular show with an unfortunate title. Urinetown is a smart, hilarious musical satire about greed, corruption, revolution... and musical theatre itself! Don’t let the title scare you away. This show is extremely topical today.

Urinetown is about a dystopian society facing the depletion of natural resources and political corruption under the influence of a wealthy business owner who unfairly fines taxes and tariffs for the most basic of human rights: to use the bathroom.

The play addresses the idea of living extravagantly without regard for how it affects our future. We just pile up the garbage and byproducts and use up our resources like there's no tomorrow.

The show will be performed Friday & Saturday, April 4th & 5th at 7:30 and Sunday, April 6th at 2:00. Tickets are $7 for students, children, faculty & staff and $10 for general admission. Tickets will go on sale at MMU during lunch periods on April 1st (no joke!) and will also be available at the door.

This year's Fall Show is Pygmalion, the play that inspired the musical My Fair Lady. Performance dates: Friday and Saturday November 8th and 9th at 7:30 and Sunday November 10th at 2:00. Tickets available at the door: $6 for Students & Staff, $9 for General Admission. For additional information, call (802)858-1715

The Fall Show was Spectacular!

The MMU Theatre Department presents PYGMALION, the play that inspired the musical MY FAIR LADY! Eliza Doolittle is a cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phonetician, so that she may someday get a job as a lady in a shop, which requires better English. Despite his cynical nature and difficulty understanding women, Higgins grows attached to her.

If you missed the show last weekend, you can watch the recording thanks to Mount Mansfield Community Television! Stream the video on MMCTV's YouTube channel.
