Poetry Out Loud is a national competition in which students recite poems from the POL anthology in front of a live audience. Performances will be evaluated based on physical presence and articulation as well as interpretation and understanding of the work. This is a great opportunity to hone public speaking skills and learn about both contemporary poetry and literary history!
MMU's Open Round will take place on Wednesday, January 31st at 3:15 in the Library. This round is open to any student who wishes to recite one poem.
Eight finalists will be chosen to compete in a two-round final. First they will recite their open round poem, then a second poem of their choosing.
Finals Round One: Friday, February 9th during advisory (1:10-1:40) in the Auditorium
Finals Round Two: Tuesday, February 20th during advisory (1:10-1:40) in the Auditorium
The winner goes on to the State Semifinals:
March 7th: Semi-Finals @ Barre Opera House
March 14th: Final Competition @ the Flynn
