From the Special Olympics Vermont website:
Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same team. By pairing peers with and without disabilities on the same team, students are given the opportunity to build more inclusive schools. Unified Sports promotes equality on and off the field. The motto for Unified Sports is "On the field we're teammates and off the field we're friends".
We currently offer six Unified Sports® competition experiences for schools and local programs:
Bocce (@ MMU)
Bowling (@ SpareTime)
Basketball (@ MMU)
Soccer (@ MMU / Tourney @ Norwich University)
Track
Snowshoeing
At MMUHS, our team partners with another athletic team for our practices and for our competitions. Our athletes develop relationships with their peers through the excitement of competition and team experiences.
- There is no cost to play
- We practice 2 times per week, ending at 4:30pm
